Pakistan Legend Zaheer Abbas Admitted To ICU In London After Testing Positive For Covid-19 – Reports

Legendary Pakistan National Cricket Team batter Zaheer Abbas has been admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of a private hospital in London after testing positive for Covid-19, as per a Geo News report.

The 74-year-old former Pakistan batter Zaheer Abbas was one of the most stylish and elegant batters of his era. He made his Test debut for Pakistan in 1969 against New Zealand in Karachi and his One Day International (ODI) debut came against England in 1974 in Nottingham.

Overall he played 78 Test games for the Pakistan National Cricket Team and smashed 5062 runs at an average of 44.79, including 12 centuries and 20 half-centuries.

He played 62 One Day Internationals in his career and scored 2572 runs at an average of 47.62, including 7 centuries and 13 half-centuries.

Also, Zaheer was inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame in 2020 alongside South Africa’s Jacques Kallis and Australia’s Lisa Sthalekar.

The Pakistan batting legend was moved to the ICU three days after getting admitted to Saint Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, where he was put on oxygen support, as per a Geo News report.

Notably, Zaheer Abbas had contracted the Covid-19 virus while travelling from UAE to London. Also, the former cricketer had complained of pain and later it was revealed that he was suffering from severe pneumonia.

“He is currently on dialysis and the doctors have advised him to refrain from meeting people,” Geo News quoted sources as saying.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan batting great had overall played 459 games in first-class cricket and he has got astonishing numbers. Abbas scored 34843 first-class runs at an amazing average of 51.54, including 108 centuries and 158 half-centuries.
