Pakistan will take on Sri Lanka in the third match of the Pakistan T20I tri-series. This article provides details about Pakistan's Playing 11 vs Sri Lanka for the third match of the series.
Pakistan Playing XI vs Sri Lanka- Pakistan T20I Tri Series 2025, Match 3:
Openers: Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub
Pakistan would want to get their batting performance sorted if they want to put on a complete performance in the upcoming match against Sri Lanka, having made things difficult for themselves while chasing in the tri-series opener.
The Men in Green found themselves in a spot of bother while chasing a target of 148 runs after being reduced to 54-4, and it took an all-round effort from Mohammad Nawaz to get the team over the line.
For that to happen, the home team would bank on their openers and number three batter to get the team off to a good start and score the bulk of the runs for the team.
The opening pair of Sahibzada Farhan and Saim Ayub, which has shown glimpses of what it is capable of, hasn't been able to perform consistently and would hope to do that in the game against Sri Lanka.
Individually as well, both players have been a hit or miss as they haven't been able to convert the start that they have got on most occasions, which they will have in mind while batting in the first six overs.
If Farhan and Ayub get going, it would increase the hosts' chances of winning, as the middle order will have a platform to capitalise on both while batting first or while chasing.
Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Babar Azam, Salman Agha (c), Usman Khan (wk), Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Nawaz, Faheem Ashraf
If we talk about the middle order, it underwent a lot of changes in the first match. The most notable of all was the batting position of Fakhar Zaman.
Fakhar, who is an opener, came in to bat at number five to negotiate the spinners, which might be part of a long-term strategy considering the left-hander's attacking gameplay against the spinners.
Other than Fakhar, another new entrant in the middle order was Usman Khan, who has had a handful of chances so far but made use of them by indulging in a crucial partnership with Fakhar and Mohammad Nawaz to take the team home.
Amidst the rescue act from the team's lower middle order, the team management would be somewhat concerned about the form of captain Salman Ali Agha, who hasn't been able to come good since becoming the captain.
The hosts would desperately want him to score runs against Sri Lanka, along with Babar Azam, who was dismissed for a duck against Zimbabwe.
Bowlers: Shaheen Afridi, Salman Mirza, Abrar Ahmed
As far as Pakistan's bowling is concerned, it did its job in helpful conditions for the bowlers in the first match and would like to replicate the same performance against Sri Lanka.
The Men in Green might rest ODI captain and experienced fast bowler Shaheen Afridi due to the rotation policy that the team has adopted for quite some time when it comes to the bowling resources.
There might be a scenario where Abrar Ahmed is rested and Pakistan brings an extra seamer, depending on the nature of the wicket.
The only name which, in all likelihood, will feature in the playing XI is that of Mohammad Nawaz, as he has been in magnificent form with both bat and ball in the last few months.
