Pakistan Shaheens squad for 50-over matches against Bangladesh 'A' announced; Mohammad Haris named captain

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has named a 14-member squad for the Pakistan Shaheens for their upcoming three-match one-day series against Bangladesh A.

Wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Haris, who has played six ODIs and nine T20Is for Pakistan, will lead the Pakistan team.

The four-day series between Pakistan Shaheens and Bangladesh 'A' ended in a draw. Pakistan and Bangladesh will face off in a three-match One-Day series.

The first 50-over match will be played on August 26, with the remaining matches scheduled for August 28 and 30, respectively.

Pakistan Cricket Board Announces Pakistan Shaheens Squad

The selectors have retained 12 players from the squad that participated in the 50-over and Top End T20 series in Darwin, Australia.

The Pakistan squad includes Mohammad Haris, Abdul Faseeh, Arafat Minhas, Faisal Akram, Haseebullah, Jahandad Khan, and Mohammad Abbas Afridi.

Left-arm spinner Mehran Mumtaz and left-handed batter Azan Awais have also been named in the squad for the 50-over series at home.

Mumtaz featured in the second four-day match against Bangladesh ‘A’, while Awais played for Pakistan U19 in the ICC Men’s U19 World Cup 2024.

Mohammad Haris said that the upcoming series will provide Pakistan players with valuable experience.

Haris highlighted that the team is well-coordinated, having played together in back-to-back series.

“It is a great opportunity for the Pakistan Shaheens players to reap quality game time in back-to-back white-ball series,” Haris said in the media release.

“The Shaheens team is in good sync as most of the players have shared the dressing room and field together on the recent tour. Being the leader of the side, I’ll look to get the best out of the team and win the series which will be a great honour for all of us while playing at home.

As far as 50-overs cricket is concerned most of our players have diverse skills to showcase in this format and we look forward to an exciting series against a strong Bangladesh ‘A’ team.”

Towhid Hridoy To Lead Bangladesh A In Upcoming 50-over Series

Towhid Hridoy will captain Bangladesh A for the upcoming 50-over series against Pakistan Shaheens. Hridoy has played in 30 ODIs and 29 T20Is for Bangladesh. All three 50-over games between the two teams will start at 9:30 am (local time) from August 26 to August 30 at Islamabad Club.

Bangladesh ‘A’ squad: Towhid Hridoy (captain), Anamul Haque, Hasan Murad, Jaker Ali, Mahedi Hasan, Mahidul Islam (wicket-keeper), Mohammad Naim, Mosaddek Hossain, Rejaur Rehman Raja, Rishad Hossain, Ruyel Miah, Saif Hassan, Soumya Sarkar, Tanzim Hasan Sakib.
