Pakistan to sack Salman Agha after humiliation vs India; PSL hero to get T20I captaincy

After his humiliating defeat in the Asia Cup to India on multiple occasions, Pakistan T20I skipper Salman Agha is likely to be sacked and replaced by the all-rounder Shadab Khan, who has previously served as the vice-captain of the side.
In the latest turn of events, the PCB might not be able to host the planned tri-series featuring Afghanistan and Sri Lanka, scheduled to be played from the 19th of November. If the series takes place, the Pakistan selectors will want to test out Shadab Khan .
Salman Agha to be replaced by Pakistan all-rounder Shadab Khan
The 27-year-old spin bowling all-rounder Shadab Khan has served as the Pakistan vice-captain previously and is likely to replace Salman Agha as the captain of the Pakistan T20I team. According to a recent report from PTI, Shadab will make a return to the T20I side and lead the national team after coming out of the rehabilitation program next month.
Shadab has immense experience in T20 cricket and also has vast captaincy experience in Pakistan's local franchise tournament, the Pakistan Super League (PSL), and domestic cricket. Though the PCB looks determined to back Salman Agha as Pakistan's skipper, some sources of PTI have reported that Shadab is being looked at as the long-term captain of the side.
Shadab Khan's return date announced
Shadab Khan last played in a home series against Bangladesh in early June before having his shoulder injury during the series. His return will be significant since he is likely to replace Salman Agha as the T20I captain. Before the surgery, he was the vice-captain in the shortest format.
A reliable source has said that Shadab Khan would return to action in the upcoming bilateral home series against Sri Lanka between November 11th and the 15th, as he is expected to come out of rehab after a long wait.
“He is is planning to also play a domestic four-day game in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy before the Sri Lanka series," the source said. Pakistan have planned several T20I games to prepare for the next year's ICC T20 World Cup, with a home series against South Africa, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Australia.
Salman Agha and Shadab Khan's Stats Comparison in T20I Cricket
The 27-year-old Pakistani spinner has played as an all-rounder across all three formats of the game, with participation in 6 Tests, 70 ODIs, and 112 T20I matches. Though not starting initially as a batter, he slowly turned out to be a promising batsman. He scored 300, 855, and 792 runs in the three formats and also picked 14, 85, and 112 wickets each.
Salman Agha, the 31-year-old batting all-rounder who captained Pakistan in the Asia Cup, has played 22 Tests, 41 ODIs, and 32 T20Is in his career. He recently missed a Test century during the first Test against South Africa at Lahore. He has also picked 20, 17, and 5 wickets each.
