Former Pakistan fast bowler and commentator Wasim Akram recently made a cheeky remark on India's surprising home series whitewash against New Zealand. Wasim Akram stated that the Pakistan team would have an advantage in Test matches against the Indian team, especially on spin-friendly surfaces.

India suffered a humiliating 0-3 defeat at home against New Zealand. It is worth noting that it was India's first home Test series loss in 12 years. India batsmen struggled against spin during the series as they were outplayed by New Zealand's bowlers, especially left-arm spinners Mitchell Santner and Ajaz Patel.

Pakistan Have A Chance To Beat India In Tests - Wasim Akram

When asked about a Test series between India and Pakistan, Wasim Akram said that the Shan Masood-led team would have the upper hand on spinning pitches, given India’s recent loss at home to New Zealand. Akram said that a series between the two cricket-loving nations would be massive for the sport.

“I would want to see a Test series between India and Pakistan. Pakistan can now beat India on the turners,” Vaughan said on-air during the first ODI between Australia and Pakistan (via The Indian Express).

“It will be massive. It will be good for the game, for two cricket crazy nations. Pakistan have a chance to beat India in Tests now on a spinning track. They have been hammered by New Zealand 3-0 at home," Wasim Akram replied.

The cricket teams from the subcontinent will temporarily avoid facing significant spin challenges, as they are set to tour Australia and South Africa, respectively, for Test matches in the near future.

Sajid Khan, Noman Ali Picked Up 39 Of 40 Wickets In Last Two Tests

Pakistan capitalized on turning pitches to recover from an early loss in the series. The Men in Green won the home Test series against England by 2-1. They strategically used spin-friendly pitches midway through the three-match series. Sajid Khan and Noman Ali took most of the wickets in the last two Tests.

After suffering a heavy defeat in the first Test on a flat pitch in Multan, Pakistan made changes, including resting pace bowlers Naseem Shah and Shaheen Afridi. The two spinners picked up 39 of the 40 wickets that fell in the last two Test matches, helping Pakistan to their first home series victory since 2021.

India Last Played A Test Match Against Pakistan In 2007

India and Pakistan have not faced each other in a Test match since Pakistan's tour of India in 2008 when India won the three-match series 1-0. The home team secured victory in the opening Test in Delhi and drew the subsequent matches in Kolkata and Pune.

The two teams have not competed in the World Test Championship (WTC). Overall, in the 59 Test matches between the two teams, Pakistan has won 12 matches, India has won nine, and 38 matches have ended in draws.
