Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has said that his team will try to play fearless cricket during the upcoming West Indies tour. The 26-year-old cricketer also mentioned that Pakistan will try different combinations against the Caribbean side. Pakistan is set to play 4 T20I matches against West Indies. The Pakistan tour of West Indies 2021 also comprises two Test matches.

The T20I series between Pakistan and West Indies will commence with the 1st encounter on July 28 (Wednesday). The T20I series will conclude with the 4th match on August 3 (Tuesday). The Test series will begin with the first match on August 12 (Thursday). The 2nd Test will begin on August 20 (Friday). Pakistan recently lost an ODI and T20I series during the England tour.

We Will Try To Play Fearless Cricket Against West Indies: Babar Azam

Speaking about the upcoming encounter with West Indies, Azam said that his team will try to play fearless cricket during the tour. The right-handed batsman also mentioned that they will also try their pinch-hitting.

“The players in the side have performed in domestic and PSL matches. Keeping the World Cup in mind we will be trying different combinations. We will also test our pinch-hitting. We have to trust our middle-order batsmen. We have a good track record against West Indies. We will try to play fearless cricket”, Azam said.

The Pakistan skipper also said that they could not try different combinations against England and will focus on doing that during the West Indies tour.

“We did not get a lot of chances to try different combinations during the series against England. We will now try different combinations. We will try to learn from our mistakes. We will give confidence to our players. We have also worked on our fielding. Hopefully, we will see better results,” said Babar Azam.

Pakistan defeated South Africa and Zimbabwe in a T20I series earlier this year. Recently, they lost to England in an ODI and T20I series. During the England tour, the Babar Azam-led Pakistan lost the ODI series 3-0 to a second-string England side.

In the three-match T20I series, Pakistan started on a winning note after defeating England in the 1st game by 31 runs. However, Pakistan lost the remaining two matches and eventually lost the series 2-1. Now, the Asian team is currently in West Indies, all set to face them in the T20I and Test series.
