The salaries of the mentors in the upcoming Champions Cup 2024 have been revealed. Recently, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the names of five mentors for the five teams in the Champions Cup.

Those five mentors are Misbah-ul-Haq, Saqlain Mushtaq, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Shoaib Malik, and Waqar Younis. On August 5, the PCB announced three new tournaments in Pakistan's domestic season 2024-25.

Those tournaments are Champions One-Day Cup, Champions T20 Cup, and Champions First-Class Cup.

These tournaments will be in addition to the existing domestic cricket calendar which consists of the National T20 Cup, Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, President’s Trophy, President’s Cup, and HBL Pakistan Super League 2025.

The salaries of five mentors in the Champions Cup 2024 revealed

The names of the five mentors were announced by the PCB on August 26. According to Cricket Pakistan, each mentor will earn an annual salary of 5 million Pakistan rupees.

Since all these mentors have been appointed under three-year contracts, the total salary will be 15 million Pakistani rupees for each of them over the course of three years.

All the mentors are expected to play a key role in identifying and nurturing the talents in Pakistani cricket. Their main aim will be to strengthen Pakistan's bench strength for the future.

Coaching staff of each team

It is believed that each team in the Champions Cup will have a staff of 10 members. The members will include a head coach, assistant coach, manager, physio, and other members.

Waqar Younis was appointed as the advisor to the chairman Mohsin Naqvi a few days ago. But Younis stepped down from the role in order to take up the role of a mentor in the Champions Cup.

According to the sources in Cricket Pakistan, Waqar Younis was drawn into the mentoring role as it provides flexibility in working hours and offers an attractive salary in a short period of time.

Sarfaraz Ahmed is the only active international cricketer among these five mentors in the Champions Cup. Although Shoaib Malik too hasn't announced his retirement, the management seems to have moved past him and he is no longer a part of the plans for the national team.

Pakistan's lack of quality spinners

Pakistan is struggling to find high-quality spinners who can serve the national team in international cricket. The lack of world-class spinners in all the formats of the game prompted the board to sign Saqlain Mushtaq as one of the mentors and the PCB is optimistic about his involvement.

Pakistan cricket is going through a bad time right now. The team recently lost a Test match to Bangladesh, which was their first Test defeat to the opposition in 14 attempts.

The decline of cricket in the country is a huge concern for the cricket team which had some of the best players in the world at a time.

Pakistan also had a disappointing tournament in the T20 World Cup 2024 where they bowed out of the group stage. They suffered a shocking defeat to the USA and then failed to qualify for the Super 8 stage.
