Pakistan’s veteran leg-spinner Yasir Shah has found himself in a huge controversy as reports have suggested that he has been accused of harassing and raping minor girls. A case against him has been registered at the Shalimar Police Station in Islamabad for allegedly aiding in the rape and harassment of a 14-year-old girl.

The girl stated in the first information report (FIR) that Yasir’s friend Farhan raped her at gunpoint, harassed her, and filmed her ordeal. The girl further alleged that the cricketer had warned her of consequences if she or her family approached the authorities or file any complaint about the incident.

The cricketer has not been arrested as per the latest news reports.

“When I approached Yasir on WhatsApp and told him about the incident, he made fun of me and said that he likes underage girls. Yasir Shah said that he was a very influential person and that he knew a high-ranking official […] Yasir Shah and Farhan make videos and rape underage girls,” the complainant alleged in the FIR read as per Geo TV.

The case was registered against Yasir and, according to the complainant, the cricketer’s friend, Farhan, under sections 292-B and 292-C (child pornography) as well as 376 (punishment for rape) of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Yasir Shah Proposed To Give The Raped Girl A Flat And Bear Her Expenses If She Didn’t Approach The Authorities

The Geo TV report has further alleged that the 35-year-old leg-spinner proposed the girl to give her a flat and bear her expenses for the next 18 years when she approached the police. As per a report in the Dawn, the complainant alleged that Farhan and Yasir connive to trap minor girls at their ‘shisha’ center, rape them and blackmail them using videos of the incident.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) responded to the accusations against Yasir Shah and said that it has noted the allegations leveled against the spinner.

“The PCB is presently gathering information at its end and will only offer a comment when in possession of complete facts,” the board said in a statement.

Yasir, the fastest bowler to take 200 Test wickets, last played in Tests against the West Indies, but had to give the Bangladesh series a miss due to not recovering from a thumb injury. He’s expected to be summoned in the police station for further inquiry. If proven guilty, the 35-year-old might also be put behind the bars.
