In an unfortunate turn of events, Melbourne Stars??? Wicket-keeper Batsman Sam Harper had to be rushed to a nearby hospital as he was hit by a beaming delivery during a net session earlier today. Those who witnessed the incident unfold were extremely scared and taken aback with some claiming that it reminded them of the Phil Hughes incident.

Sam Harper who turned 27 last month was lucky to have not endured much damage as those close to him felt something very wrong after seeing him getting hit on the head during an MCG net session.
The Victoria-born cricketer made his Big Bash League debut in 2016 with the Melbourne Stars before joining the other Melbourne outfit, the Renegades a few seasons later. He finished as the 2nd highest run-getter for the Reds and ahead of the ongoing campaign???s start, he moved back to the Green side of Melbourne through a trade deal.
Sam Harper had scored 264 runs last year at a strike rate of almost 148. He is one of the promising prospects of Australian cricket who is yet to be called up by the national team. In first-class cricket, the 27-year-old has scored 1569 runs in 44 matches including 3 centuries and 5 half-centuries.
His List A stats aren???t that impressive, scoring 726 runs in 32 matches but Sam Harper has been a good player in the BBL for both the Melbourne sides. He has 1470 runs under his belt in 80 BBL outings with a strike rate of 132 and has 10 Fifties to his name.
But Sam Harper???s fatal accident has shocked the Australian cricketing fraternity, bringing back the memories of Phillip Hughes??? horrific death after being hit by a ball from Sean Abbott on his neck. Hughes would faint on the ground and would not get up until an emergency helicopter carried him to the hospital where he was announced dead.
The incident took place in 2014 during a Shield game in Sydney and it shocks every Australian to this day.
