Pakistan cricketer Babar Azam was left stunned by a fan's craze, who skipped security in an attempt to storm into the Pakistan dressing room to catch a glimpse of the former Pakistan skipper after their magnificent start to the new WTC campaign.

Pakistan has once again made the headlines, but this time with a promising start to their ICC World Test Championship campaign against the defending champions, South Africa, on the home turf in Lahore.

Pakistan has failed to put on a promising show ever since the inauguration of the WTC, as until last year's series against England, they had also maintained a long losing streak even in home conditions. This is the first time they have advanced to a top position in the WTC points table.

Babar Azam's fan breaches security to enter the dressing room; PCB's response awaited on the questionable security arrangements

After Pakistan defeated South Africa in the opening Test, the first for them in this WTC Cycle. Babar Azam had his birthday on Wednesday, the last day of play in the first Test between the nations.

Babar's special day was, however, doomed by an unwanted security breach at Lahore, when a young man climbed the Majid Khan Enclosure and walked towards the Pakistan dressing room in order to catch a glimpse of the birthday boy.

The coaching staff members were standing right outside the dressing room and immediately called in security as soon as they spotted the fan. Sensing trouble, he first tried to climb down the same route; however, seeing the security approach, he pleaded for mercy.

Babar Azam, who was not in the dressing room at the time of the incident and was later informed of the same, was stunned by the incident.

Pakistan fans hand the greatest birthday present to Babar Azam

Though Test cricket's craze has been reducing over time, the PCB has introduced a new model of reduced ticket prices to attract audiences towards red-ball cricket. Hundreds gathered at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore for the red-ball action between South Africa and Pakistan.

The Pakistan crowd soon made clear their reason for coming in masses. It was none other than their craze to witness Babar Azam play for the first time since the West Indies series. The craze rose to such prominence that when the Pakistan skipper Shan Masood was dropped during his innings, a dash of disappointment rolled through the stands.

Every time the skipper's wickets looked threatened, the fans erupted in a loud cheer, and once he got dismissed, they cheered with insane happiness, as now they could catch a glimpse of the great batter. Even the commentators were stunned by such reactions from the crowd.

Babar Azam top-scored, and Noman Ali turned the master spinner again to hand Pakistan a winning start in the WTC

Babar Azam was the star attraction of Pakistan's second innings as he top-scored for Pakistan with a 72-ball 42 on the challenging surface. His knock helped Pakistan set a target of 277 runs in front of the visitors, which they fell short of by a margin of 93 runs.

Noman Ali, the left-arm orthodox spinner, once again played the lead spinner for Pakistan, as he picked up a six-wicket haul in the first innings and then backed it up with another 4 wickets in the second innings. The second Test is scheduled to be played in Rawalpindi from the 20th of October and will be the decider of the series.
