Indian cricketer Parvez Rasool has hit out at Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) after the latter accused him of stealing a roller. The association also warned the Indian player with police action if he fails to return the machinery. In his reply, Rasool denied the allegations while questioning the board if this is the way to treat an international cricketer.
English daily The Indian Express quoted BJP spokesperson and JKCA sub-committee member Anil Gupta as saying that the matter has been blown out of proportion.
According to the Gupta, the notice was issued to Parvez Rasool because the cricketer’s name is their records for his district and the board does not have mailing addresses of all the district associations. Anil Gupta also asserted that the board has issued notices not only to Parvez Rasool but to all district associations and whosoever has taken JKCA machinery from Srinagar.

Is This The Way To Treat International Cricketer: Parvez Rasool Hits Out At JKCA
Parvez Rasool, who has played one ODI and T20I for the Indian national team so far, hit out at the association for accusing him of stealing the machinery and threatening with police actions. While denying the allegations, Rasool asked the board if this is a way to treat an international cricketer.
“This is to inform you that I Parvez Rasool first international cricketer have represented my country and also played in IPL, Duleep Trophy, Deodhar trophy, India A, Board president XI, Irani Trophy, captained the J&K Ranji team from last 6 years and only cricketer from J&K who got best all-rounder award from BCCI 2 times.
Today, I got a letter stating that I have taken roller from JKCA which is really unfortunate… Let me clarify that I haven’t taken any roller or machine from JKCA. I am a player who is playing cricket,” Rasool wrote.
He also asked JKCA to question the district associations for the whereabouts of their equipment rather than him.
“I just want to ask is this the way to treat international cricketer who has given life and soul to J&K cricket. You have an affiliated body in all districts; you should ask them for any JKCA equipment if present in their districts rather than me,” the 32-year-old player’s further wrote.
Earlier, the JKCA had issued a letter to the Indian cricketer urging him to return the board’s machinery, failing to which can invite police action from their side.
“You are holding machinery of JKCA… Before taking any harsh step in the direction which may include inviting police action for breach of trust and in order to maintain a cordial relationship, you are directed to immediately return all machinery within one week failing which JKCA will be free to take action,” the JKCA letter read.
Parvez Rasool is an Indian cricketer who plays as an all-rounder for Jammu and Kashmir’s domestic team and has also led the side in domestic tournaments. He is a right-handed batsman and a right-arm off-spinner. He made his international debut with an ODI match against Bangladesh in June 2014.
