It’s on track and pulling up pretty well: Pat Cummins on his recovery
The star fast bowler will continue bowling in the coming days to see how his body responds, and if all goes well, he could lead Australia’s attack in the second Test against England.
Pat Cummins was quoted as saying by Kayo Sports, “It’s feeling good. I had a couple of good sessions in Perth this week, so I had a big day where I bowled around 10 overs, then a couple of quieter days, and then went again. It’s on track and pulling up pretty well.”
The Australian captain added, “I have half a chance for the next game. I’ll have a couple more bowls, and then there could be about two weeks before the next one the way this one is going. I’m pretty hopeful, and it’s probably better than it was a few weeks ago.”
Australia crush England by 8 wickets in the Ashes opener
Meanwhile, Australia kicked off the Ashes 2025-26 with a dominating eight-wicket win over England in Perth. England were bundled out for 172 and 164 across the innings, with Mitchell Starc leading the Australian attack with a stunning 10-wicket haul in Perth.
The first Ashes Test was shocking, ending inside two days with only Harry Brook hitting fifty from the English camp. Chasing 205 runs, Australia pulled off the target in a remarkable fashion at a ground where big targets usually crumble. With Usman Khawaja injured, Travis Head opened and immediately dominated the English bowlers, hitting powerful shots and taking complete control.
Jake Weatherald started well but fell early to Brydon Carse, leaving Head to lead the charge. Head smashed a record-breaking century, while Marnus Labuschagne supported him brilliantly from the other end with a stylish fifty as the hosts stunned England in the Ashes opener on November 22.
