Australia pacer Pat Cummins has chosen 3 batsmen – Virat Kohli, Kane Williamson, and Steve Smith – from the current era to make it straight into his best Test eleven. He has not included England skipper Joe Root, who is part of the fabled fan-created ‘Fab Four’, in his eleven.

The debate continues around who the best batsman is among the four – it is the Kiwi skipper who leads the ICC batsman Test rankings, followed by the Aussie pair of Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne, then stands Joe Root and Virat Kohli.

Pat Cummins is currently serving his quarantine in a hotel after reaching Australia from the Maldives following the suspension of the IPL 2021. He hosted a question-and-answer session on his YouTube channel with his fans, where he was asked about the batters he would place in his best Test eleven.

“I would probably have Kane Williamson at No.3, Steve Smith at No.4, maybe Kohli at No.5. In any order, but I would have those three,” the no 1 ICC Test bowler said.

Virat and Kane Williamson will soon have a face-off in the WTC final from June 18 in Southampton; India will then take on England in a 5-Test series.

Pat Cummins also commented on senior India pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who has recently made his return to India’s white-ball eleven following the long layoff due to injury, however, he missed out on the Test tour of England.

Although Kumar is widely known for his new-ball bowling, where he moves the ball significantly more than others, the Aussie speedster lavished huge praises on Kumar’s death bowling as well, when the speedster relies on his accurate yorkers and smart change of pace, displaying his coterie of variations.

“Bhuvneshwar Kumar is really skillful. He is a clever bowler. He has a really good yorker, got some clever change-ups, and also for what he is known best for, swinging the ball both ways. As a fellow fast bowler, he is exciting to watch as there is always something happening,” Pat Cummins said.
