Ace Australia and Kolkata Knight Riders pacer, Pat Cummins is gearing up for the upcoming 14th edition of the Indian Premier League. The speedster is in quarantine in Chennai, where KKR begin their campaign against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
While in isolation, Pat Cummins, who was bought for Rs. 15.5 crore before last season, decided to engage with his fans through a Q&A session on Instagram. He was asked several questions about his personal and professional life.
When asked what was his favourite moment in the IPL, the 27-year-old picked the title victory under Gautam Gambhir in 2014. It was Pat Cummins’ maiden IPL season; he played just a solitary match then but says that winning the trophy, and later seeing thousands of fans celebrating it was surreal. He enjoyed playing under Gambhir and loved the former skipper was aggressiveness.
“Favourite moment was my first IPL in 2014 with Kolkata winning the title and then going to next day and see hundreds of thousands of fans on street going crazy,” Pat Cummins said on his Instagram story.
“Enjoyed playing under GG (Gautam Gambhir) he was always really aggressive as a captain which I loved,” he added.
The Aussie seamer was with KKR in 2014 and 2015 and returned to the side last year. He had a disappointing start to the season, going wicketless in his first 6 out of 8 matches, but made a strong comeback with a 3-for and a 4-for to end the season on a high. Unfortunately, still, KKR missed the playoffs due to the net run rate.
I like watching Bumrah bowl: Pat Cummins
He named India’s spearhead pacer, Jasprit Bumrah, as his favourite Indian fast bowler, before adding that he is also excited to see his KKR teammate, and 2018 Under-19 World Cup winner, Kamlesh Nagarkotti bowl more this season. Nagarkoti bowled in 10 games last season and picked 5 wickets, and impressed with his pace.
Pat Cummins also picked opener Shubman Gill as his favourite KKR batsman and also said he would have loved to play alongside Mitchell Johnson in the 2013/14 Ashes.
“I like watching Bumrah bowl and in KKR youngster Kamlesh Nagarkoti,” the Aussie quick said.
