A brilliant over for the Delhi (Capitals), it can be the decisive moment as well at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Sri Lankan international Pathum Nissanka smashed the Gujarat Titans (GT) bowler, Ashok Sharma, with back-to-back big shots.

KL Rahul welcomed the emerging bowler with a four, followed by a single. So far, it looked normal. But the situation took a sudden turn when Pathum Nissanka took the strike.

Pathum Nissanka smashed Ashok Kumar for 23 runs in a single over of the DC vs GT IPL 2026 match.

In the remaining four deliveries of the over, the opener hoisted Sharma for a maximum and hammered him for three 4s. From the 6th over of the second innings, DC accumulated 23 runs. This over can boost up Delhi’s run chase big time.

Shubman Gill rose for GT

Winning the toss, Axar Patel, captain of the Delhi Capitals, decided to bowl first on their home ground. Mukesh Kumar struck early in the first innings for DC by taking the wicket of Sai Sudharsan. GT recovered quickly from it as Jos Buttler displayed a stunning batting performance tonight, scoring 52 off 27 balls.

Soon after the dismissal of Buttler, Gill, who was by then a well-settled batter on the pitch, geared up and smashed a 70-run knock. In his 45-ball knock, the opener hit four 4s and five 6s. The innings by Shubman Gill were filled with class, maturity, and composure.

Washington Sundar also did what the team management asked him for. With Gill and Sundar in the middle, the Gujarat Titans scored runs at a swift pace. After Buttler and Gill, Washington Sundar also got his half-century, 55 off 32. Batting first, the Gujarat Titans registered 210 for 4 in 20 overs, putting the Delhi Capitals in a challenging situation.

KL Rahul is fighting alone for DC

In the second innings, all eyes were on the opening pair of DC. The pair of KL Rahul and Sri Lanka's Pathum Nissanka is exciting on paper, but the duo could not do enough together in the previous two matches for the team. KL Rahul, who was in stunning form for the team in IPL 2025, was also dismissed cheaply on previous occasions this season.

In this match, both of the openers of the team offered Delhi Capitals a flying start. Soon after the departure of the opener, Pathum Nissanka, the Delhi Capitals sustained two major blows in the form of Nitish Rana and Sameer Rizvi. In the 10th over of the run chase, Gujarat Titans' ace spinner Rashid Khan dismissed Rana and Rizvi in two consecutive deliveries.

From 76 for 1 to 101 in exchange for 3 wickets, the momentum of the contest suddenly shifted, from DC to GT. Still, the competition is balanced evenly; either of these two teams can claim the match.
