The Qualifier 2 of IPL 2025 is being played between Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians on Sunday (June 1). The PBKS vs MI match is taking place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
It is a virtual semifinal for both teams. The winner will qualify for the final and will face Royal Challengers Bengaluru while the loser will be eliminated.
With a place in the final at stake, both PBKS and MI will be desperate to win the game. The match will be the second meeting between the two teams this season. Earlier this season, PBKS beat MI by 7 wickets during the league stage and will be hoping to register another win.
However, the winning momentum is with MI and they will look to make the most of it. While PBKS suffered a heavy 8-wicket defeat at the hands of RCB in the first qualifier, MI beat Gujarat Titans by 20 runs in the Eliminator.
PBKS vs MI: PBKS opt to bowl:
PBKS have decided to bowl first after winning the PBKS vs MI toss. Speaking at toss, PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer said: "We are going to bowl first. Slightly overcast and the wicket was under the covers as well. It's a fresh game, our mindset is to go out and win. The environment is top-notch. Yuzi comes in."
On the other hand, MI captain Hardik Pandya said: " We also would have bowled first. We need to bat well and assess the conditions. It has got flatter. If you bowl well, you'll get some help. A lot of areas we could have got better.
"One day break, it's tough but we know what to execute. We came very early morning after the game, most of the guys focused on recovery. We had to make one change. Topley comes in, Gleeson has a niggle," he added.
