Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) pacer Mohammed Siraj made a stunning revelation about his health following the match against the Gujarat Titans (GT) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Mohammed Siraj stated that he wasn't sure of playing against the Titans in Bengaluru on Saturday.
Mohammed Siraj has struggled to take wickets in the IPL 2024 but made a comeback with a strong performance on Saturday. The right-arm pacer picked up four wickets for 29 runs in his four overs. He was named Player of the Match in the Bengaluru team's four-wicket win against the Gujarat Titans.
The 30-year-old pacer dismissed Wriddhiman Saha (1) with a well-executed outswinger in his first over. He secured the prized wicket of GT skipper Shubman Gill (2) in his second over. The Ahmedabad team managed to score 23 runs in the first six overs, the lowest powerplay total in the ongoing season.
I Was Really Ill For The Last Few Days - Mohammed Siraj
Following the victory, Mohammed Siraj revealed that he had been ill for the last few days and didn't expect to play against the Titans. Siraj stated that he got success after practicing a lot with the new ball this year.
"I was really ill for the last few days, thought I might not be able to play today but I really wanted to play so it was great that I was able to. Got the success today after practising a lot with the new ball this year. Reminded me of last year," Siraj said.
"When I woke up in the morning, I thought I wouldn't be able to play and that I should take rest. When I woke up, I manifested what I wanted to do and that's exactly what happened. Not easy to switch between red and white ball cricket. You need to give your 110% every ball here," he added.
Yash Dayal and Vyshak Vijay Kumar claimed two wickets each, while Cameron Green and Karn Sharma secured one wicket each. The Ahmedabad team was bowled out for 147 runs in 19.3 overs. Middle-order batters Shahrukh Khan (37), David Miller (35), and David Miller (30) contributed to the team.
Bengaluru got off to a spectacular start, amassing 92 runs in just 5.5 overs. Skipper Faf du Plessis scored a rapid half-century during the powerplay. He was dismissed after scoring 64 runs off 23 balls, including 10 fours and three sixes. However, his dismissal led to RCB's collapse to 117/6 in 10.4 overs.
Wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik scored an unbeaten 21 runs off 12 balls. He stabilized the innings with an unbeaten 35-run stand for the seventh wicket. Swapnil scored 15 runs off nine balls, including two fours and a six. RCB successfully chased down the target on the fourth ball of the 14th over.
The Faf du Plessis-led team is currently seventh in the table with eight points in 11 matches. Their next match against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) is scheduled at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala on May 9, Thursday.
