PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi issues threat to the Pakistan fan who fought with Haris Rauf

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi has reacted to the altercation involving star pacer Haris Rauf and a fan in the USA. The incident occurred while Rauf was accompanying his wife outside his hotel in Florida during the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
The fan allegedly verbally abused Rauf, prompting an angry reaction from the Pakistani cricketer. He was even stopped by the people around them from having a melee with the Pakistani fan, and this incident divided the cricket fans, leading to widespread discussion on social media.
After the incident, Rauf made it clear that he "won't tolerate disrespect towards family." He was getting full support from the Pakistan cricket team, and now the PCB has also come into his support for his brawl with the fans in the USA. Even the PCB chairman threatened to take legal action if that fan did not apologize to Rauf.

Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), Naqvi issued a stern statement, condemning the incident in the USA. The PCB chief stressed that such behavior towards a national player is unacceptable and warned of potential legal actions against the individual responsible for the pacer’s actions.
Furthermore, Naqvi demanded an immediate apology from the fan to Rauf, or they would take legal action against him, highlighting the board's zero-tolerance policy towards any form of abuse directed at its players. However, many felt it was Pakistan’s plot to save themselves from criticism for their embarrassing performance in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024.
Mohsin Naqvi said in a statement on X: “Strongly condemn the appalling incident involving Haris Rauf. Such actions against our players are completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated. Those who are involved must immediately apologise to Haris Rauf, failing which we will pursue legal action against the individual responsible.”

Earlier, Rauf released a statement on X and revealed why he lost his cool with the fans. It is being said that the fan interrupted Rauf when he was with his wife and asked for a photograph, but his behavior and taunting comments made him angry.
Rauf stated on X: “I decided not to bring this up on social media, but now that the video is out, I feel it is necessary to address the situation. As public figures, we are open to receiving all kinds of feedback from the public. They are entitled to support or criticise us. Nevertheless, when it comes to my parent and my family, I will not hesitate to respond accordingly. It is important to show respect towards people and their families, irrespective of their professions.”

Notably, Rauf took seven wickets in four matches at an economy rate of 6.73 in the T20 World Cup 2024. However, Pakistan’s miserable performance knocked them out of the tournament after the group stages, with India and the USA making it to the Super 8s from Group A.
