PCB forced to complete PSL 2025 with local talent as overseas players pull out

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is expected to decide within 48 hours on the fate of the remaining eight matches of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 season. With a ceasefire now in place between India and Pakistan, Rawalpindi and Lahore have emerged as the venues for the remaining matches of the tournament.
The PSL 2025 was suspended indefinitely due to military tensions between India and Pakistan. Notably, the situation escalated after India's retaliatory actions on May 7, following a deadly terror attack in Palalgam. The PCB considered relocating the remaining matches to the UAE, but it was not possible.
PCB to Decide Future of Remaining PSL 10 Matches Within 48 Hours
According to a report by Geo News, the Pakistan Cricket Board is expected to decide within 48 hours on the future of the remaining eight matches of the T20 tournament. Rawalpindi and Lahore will host the games, with the final set to be played at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
"The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is expected to take a major decision on the remaining eight Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10 matches in the next 48 hours," sources told Geo News on Sunday.
"Matches would be played in Rawalpindi and Lahore, whereas the final of the showpiece event would be played in Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium," the sources added.
PSL 2025 to Continue with Local Players if Foreign Players Unavailable
The report further revealed that the remaining matches of the Pakistan Super League 2025 season are expected to continue without the participation of foreign players due to their international commitments.
The tournament is likely to resume with local talent only. Financial matters are said to be a major reason behind the push to complete the season. A proposal is reportedly in place to bring all teams to Islamabad, with Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium being considered as the venue for the rest of the fixtures.
"The PSL administration needed to complete its season due to financial matters," the sources revealed.
PSL 2025 Postponed at Final Stage, With Only Eight Matches Left
When the Pakistan Super League Season 10 was postponed, the tournament had reached its final phase, with just eight matches left to play. At that point, Quetta Gladiators had already secured a spot in the playoffs and topped the standings with six victories, two losses, and one no-result from nine matches.
Karachi Kings were in second place with 10 points from eight games, winning five and losing three. Defending champions Islamabad United also had 10 points but had played one more match, registering five wins and four defeats.
Lahore Qalandars placed at fourth place with nine points, from four wins, four losses, and one no-result. Peshawar Zalmi were in fifth with eight points from four victories in nine outings. Meanwhile, Multan Sultans were out of the playoff race, having managed only one win and suffering eight losses in their nine matches.
