PCB goes bloodthirsty on Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Afridi; takes this historic step

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has delayed issuing no-objection certificates (NOCs) to Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, and Mohammad Rizwan to participate in the upcoming Canada's Global T20 tournament. Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, and Mohammad Rizwan's no-objection certificates have been delayed, as reported by local media sources in Pakistan.

The Pakistani cricketers, including Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, and Mohammad Rizwan, have applied for NOCs to participate in the Global T20 League. The PCB is awaiting clarification from the ICC regarding the league's status, and the final decision on issuing NOCs will be made once this clarification is received.

Babar Azam To Play Under Mohammad Rizwan In Global T20 League

Seven Pakistani cricketers, including Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Shaheen Afridi, Asif Ali, Mohammad Amir, Iftikhar Ahmed, and Mohammad Nawaz, have been selected by teams to participate in the Global T20 Canada tournament. Rizwan has been appointed as captain of the Vancouver Knights in the league.

Babar, the Pakistan skipper, will be captained by Rizwan in this year's tournament. Asif Ali, Mohammad Amir, and Mohammad Rizwan also play for the Vancouver Knights. Shaheen Afridi and Mohammad Nawaz will represent the Toronto Nationals, while Iftikhar Ahmed is set to join the Bangla Tigers Mississauga.

The upcoming tournament will feature prominent T20 players including Chris Lynn, Azmatullah Omarzai, Marcus Stoinis, Sunil Narine, Colin Munro, Sandeep Lamichhane, Shakib Al Hasan, David Wiese, and David Warner.

The GT20 Canada tournament is scheduled to take place from July 25 to August 11. The Vancouver Knights won the inaugural title in 2018. The Winnipeg Hawks claimed the GT20 Canada title in 2019. The Montreal Tigers are the reigning champions, having won the trophy in 2023 by defeating the Knights in the final.

Pakistan Cricket Board Issues NOC To 12 Cricketers

Earlier on Tuesday, the Pakistan Cricket Board issued no-objection certificates to twelve male cricketers, allowing them to participate in various franchise leagues worldwide. Some players included in the list are part of Pakistan’s central contract, while others have been out of the national team for a long time.

It is worth mentioning that the Pakistan Cricket Board has implemented a policy limiting centrally contracted players to participating in a maximum of two overseas leagues per year. wicketkeeper-batsman Azam Khan withdrew from the Lanka Premier League (LPL) after failing to obtain an NOC from the board.

Pakistan, led by Babar Azam, suffered a disappointing group-stage exit in the recently concluded T20 World Cup 2024 in the West Indies and the USA. The Men in Green failed to secure victories against India and the USA. The Pakistan players are now focused on making a strong comeback to redeem themselves.
