PCB goes desperate for a Head Coach!! Pakistan looking to rope the man who broke India's World Cup jinx after 28 years

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is reportedly in touch with several foreign candidates for the post of Pakistan’s head coach. The Men in Green are without a head coach since the PCB sacked Grant Bradburn in the aftermath of the team’s disastrous campaign in the ODI World Cup last year.
Pakistan toured Australia and New Zealand without a designated head coach. Former allrounder Mohammad Hafeez served as the team director as well as head coach during both tours before stepping down from the post last month. Pakistan endured a difficult time on both tours as they lost all three Tests in Australia before losing the T20I series in New Zealand 4-1.
The PCB was in touch with former Australian allrounder Shane Watson for the head coach’s role but the talk broke down. PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi confirmed that the PCB was indeed talking with Watson but the former cricketer did not accept the offer as he disclosed:
“We were also in talks with Shane Watson and one reason for him not accepting the offer was because so many things leaked out in the media most of which were not correct.”
PCB eyeing overseas coach for Pakistan team:
With Watson refusing PCB’s offer, the cricket board is reportedly in touch with former India head coach Gary Kirsten as well as former Australia coach Justin Langer. The PCB wants to appoint the new coach on a long-term contract.
According to a report in the Pakistani news outlet ‘Jang’, the PCB is also in touch with the likes of Mike Hesson, Matthew Hayden, Eoin Morgan, and Phil Simmons. While former PCB chief Zaka Ashraf wanted local coaches for the team, his successor Mohsin Naqvi has made it clear that he wants a foreign coach in charge. However, the PCB is finding it challenging to convince an overseas coach because of the way past coaches were treated,
“It is because of the PCB’s poor track record in appointing and sacking coaches — foreign and local — in the past that others are now very reluctant to accept any offer from the PCB,” a board official said.
With the T20 World Cup not very far away, the PCB will be looking to sort out the issue soon and appoint a new head coach.
