The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is reportedly set to take another big step, this time against the players following Pakistan's poor show in the T20 World Cup last month.

Pakistan cricket has been in turmoil for quite some time now. Things have not really gone well for them on the cricket field in recent months and the poor show in the T20 World Cup has highlighted the issues plaguing Pakistan cricket at the moment.

As per media reports, the environment in the dressing room is not very promising at the moment and the ever-present problem of fitness is still a big issue. In the T20 World Cup, Pakistan faced a humiliating exit at the group stage.

They suffered defeats against the USA and India before beating Canada and Ireland. However, the two wins were not enough for a spot in the Super 8s. Earlier this week, the PCB sacked Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razzaq as the selectors while also forming a new 9-member selection committee.

PCB to take actions against players:

After taking action against the selectors, the PCB is now reportedly set to take action against the Pakistan players as well. According to Pakistani news outlet Geo News' Arfa Feroz Zake, the PCB is set to cut the salary of the Pakistani players.

The deduction could see the players' salaries getting reduced to 40Lac PKR from 60Lac PKR. He also stated that the players are now happy with the new salary structure and many of them could opt against signing the central contract for the 2024-25 season.

"Sources say PCB is set to cut the salaries of Centrally Contracted players of Pakistan Cricket Team which may fall from 60Lac PKR to 40Lac PKR," wrote Arfa.

"Sources say players of Pakistan Cricket Team are UNHAPPY after hearing PCB planning to cut salaries according to new financial model. Few players might NOT show interest to sign Central Contract 2024-25!" he added.

Meanwhile, Pakistan will return to action next month when they take on Bangladesh in a two-match Test series at home. The series is their first assignment since the T20 World Cup last month. As per reports, several senior players could be rested for that series.
