Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has taken a massive step related to its domestic cricket. As per the reports in Jang News, it is learned that the governing body has decided to end the Champions Cup and Mentors Program amid the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 chaos.

The reports claimed that an annual budget of two billion rupees had been allocated for the Champions Cup and Mentors Program. But, the results didn't pan out the way the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) would've wanted.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) took the harsh step and decided to scrap the Champions Cup after negative reports

Hence, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) took the harsh step and decided to scrap it completely. The reports added that when Chairman Mohsin Naqvi reviewed the project, negative reports came to light, and it paved the way for them to shut it down completely.

In the last few days, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has been taking a lot of steps. They recently sacked five mentors previously appointed for the Champions Cup. The governing body appointed them last year on three-year contracts to serve as mentors for domestic teams participating in the event.

PCB sacked Misbah-ul-Haq, Waqar Younis, Shoaib Malik, Sarfaraz Ahmed, and Saqlain Mushtaq as mentors

The five Mentors included Misbah-ul-Haq, Waqar Younis, Shoaib Malik, Sarfaraz Ahmed, and Saqlain Mushtaq. However, the reason behind their sacking has now been justified, as days after that PCB decided to completely end the Champions Cup.

After that, PCB also appointed the new white-ball head coach. Former New Zealand National Cricket Team player Mike Hesson will be taking over the charge of the team from the white-ball series against the Bangladesh National Cricket Team. This comes after they didn't decide to extend Aaqib Javed's contract.

But, they made sure that they acquired the services of Aaqib Javed in some other capacity. The former Pakistan National Cricket Team player was roped in as the Director of High Performance. Also, there have been reports that they will appoint Misbah-Ul-Haq as the red-ball head coach.

PCB announced the dates for the resumption of the PSL 2025, the tournament to resume from 17th May

PCB also recently announced the dates for the resumption of the PSL 2025. The tournament was suspended due to the tensions between India and Pakistan, and now is all set to resume from Saturday (17th May).

The remaining four games of the PSL 2025 will be taking place at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, with the playoffs and final in Lahore. Qualifier 1 is scheduled on 21 May, followed by Eliminator 1, and Qualifier 2 will follow on 22 and 23 May, respectively. The final of the tournament will be played on 25th May.

Quetta Gladiators are at the top of the points table in the league with 6 wins, while Karachi Kings are second with 5 victories in the 8 games. They have by far looked best in the league, and it won't be a surprise if they clash with each other in the final.
