PCB Chairman Zaka Ashraf chaired the third meeting with the management committee on Sunday at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore. The meeting began with briefings on the new three-year financial model of Pakistan Men’s Cricket Team’s central contracts. The ten members not only endorsed it but also appreciated Zaka Ashraf’s efforts in negotiating the deal which led to desired results.

Pakistan is a country where in summer the weather gets really hot and humid and it is one of the reasons why no international matches take place in Pakistan. Regarding this issue, a decision was made to explore the Northern part of Pakistan for a potential international venue. Abbottabad Cricket Stadium was discussed as a possibility for hosting international matches.

Abbottabad is a city in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Northern Pakistan, it is 4,120 feet above sea level and is a famous hill station in Pakistan. Abbottabad Cricket Stadium was established in 2003 by the PCB and they declared it a first-class ground in the year 2010. The stadium is located in the backdrop of mountains at an altitude of over 1200 meters. When Wasim Akram visited this stadium for the first time he was mesmerized by the beauty and said that he was proud that such stadiums are in Pakistan.

“It’s probably the most beautiful stadium in the world. I really feel proud that we have such stadiums in Pakistan. I have travelled all around the world and I’m pleased to see such a venue in our country”, said Wasim Akram about the Abbottabad Cricket Stadium.

PCB To Build A New Pavilion In Abbottabad

PCB conceptualized a plan to construct a new pavilion at the Abbottabad Cricket Stadium. The ground has a current capacity of 4,000 people. If PCB makes Abbottabad Cricket Stadium, a venue for hosting international matches, it can catch the eyes of the outside world and will attract a lot of tourism in Pakistan especially, during the cricket season.

Later on, in the meeting chaired by PCB Chief Zaka Ashraf, an update from the infrastructure department was given regarding the proposals for the installation of solar panels across all four international stadiums. PCB will be further renovating the stadiums by installing mist fans in the general enclosures of all stadiums and replacing the digital screens in all the stadiums.
