All eyes are on the upcoming game between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Chennai Super Kings, scheduled to be played at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday (May 18).
A lot will be at stake for both teams when they lock horns against each other. The game is a virtual shootout as it will decide the fourth team to qualify for the playoffs in the ongoing IPL 2024. What makes this game even more special for some is that it could be MS Dhoni's last game.
If RCB manage to qualify for the playoffs, CSK will be knocked out of IPL 2024. And it won't be surprising at all if MS Dhoni finally decides to hang his boots. The veteran wicketkeeper-batsman has already stepped down as the captain of the side. He has also faced only 60 deliveries in 13 games so far and many believe that the ongoing season could indeed be his last-ever IPL season as a captain.
Faf du Plessis on MS Dhoni's potential farewell match:
While the upcoming game between RCB and CSK could very well turn out to be MS Dhoni's farewell game, RCB captain Faf du Plessis is not bothered about it at all. The former CSK opener said that the fans have been talking about Dhoni's retirement for years now and he is not thinking about it at all.
"People have been talking about MS retiring for six years, so it doesn’t really change. The conversation is about what we do in our team," Faf du Plessis said in a video shared by RCB.
The former South Africa captain also expressed his excitement over facing CSK. With the momentum on RCB's side, du Plessis said that the team is really looking forward to facing CSK.
"We’ve been doing really well for the last couple of weeks. So, we’re really looking forward to the game tomorrow," he said.
"It’d be a great occasion, honestly, at home, in front of our fans, there will also be a lot of yellow fans but it’s gonna be a great occasion. But yeah, we are just nice and calm and relaxed and looking forward to the game," said the RCB skipper.
