The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have been in sensational form in the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. They are currently placed in the 2nd position of the points table. However, the team’s opening batter, Phil Salt, has been out injured. The English opener did not feature in the last game against the Gujarat Titans and was replaced by Jacob Bethell.

Phil Salt, after picking up an injury during a net session, failed to play the last game against GT, and now the side’s batting coach and mentor, Dinesh Karthik, has confirmed that the opener will also miss the game against the Delhi Capitals on Monday. Salt has not recovered from the injury he sustained ahead of the GT clash.

Will RCB miss Phil Salt's intent against DC?

Phil Salt's absence from the game will be a big blow for the reigning champions, as Bethell in the first match failed to showcase the intent and power that Salt has provided for the franchise in the last two seasons. Though the latter will look to score some runs in the upcoming game.

Phil Salt has been excellent in this season as well, scoring two fifties and have scored 202 runs from six matches. He has showcased his aggressive attitude from the very first ball of the match. The management would like to make sure he is fit as soon as they would not want him to miss the rest of the season.

IPL has been full of injuries

According to TV9 Kannada, Salt is not the only RCB cricketer nursing an injury. In the GT clash, Rasikh Salam Dar is also doubtful about his fitness. Rasikh, who left the pitch midway through the previous match owing to a muscle issue, is also expected to miss the match against the Delhi Capitals.

Not only for RCB, but DC also have been suffering from injury, as their pacer Lungi Ngidi nearly survived a fatal injury, as he landed awkwardly on his neck during the PBKS clash, and was taken immediately to the hospital, with a green corridor. As per the reports, Ngidi has been out of danger and will soon be released.

Can RCB take revenge on DC?

The DC vs RCB match will be a reverse fixture, as both teams have faced each other once this season. The match was at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Phil Salt scored a brilliant 63 in the match; the Capitals had the upper hand against the Challengers, with David Miller doing the finishing job for his side. It is going to be an exciting encounter on Monday.

The two teams had different outings in their last game, where RCB dominated against the Titans, with Virat Kohli yet again stepping up in a run chase and scoring 81 runs. On the other hand, despite KL Rahul scoring an unbeaten 152, PBKS chased down the target of 265 runs and broke the record of chasing the highest-ever total in T20 and IPL history.
