Fans on X reacted after Shreyas Iyer was dropped from the Indian XI for the second T20I against South Africa. The game between the two teams is taking place at St George’s Park, Gqeberha. This becomes the virtual decider as the first game was washed out due to rain.

India lost the toss in the second game and were put into bat first. However, the playing XI of Men in Blue has raised quite a few eyebrows. Ruturaj Gaikwad wasn’t available due to illness, which no doubt is a great setback for the team with the kind of form he was in.

But another setback that India have given to themselves is they haven’t included Shreyas Iyer in the XI. The batter has been in staggering form in the white-ball cricket and it was expected that he would no doubt be in the team must-win game, especially with the form he has been in.

Shreyas Iyer was vice-captain of the Indian team for the last two games of the Australia T20Is and played a match-winning knock in the last game in Bengaluru. He slammed a vital half-century in difficult circumstances and helped his team win.

In place of Shreyas Iyer, India have given the opportunity to Tilak Varma, who is touted as one of the best youngsters in India. The senior batter missing out was a big surprise as no one expected him to be dropped from the team. Nevertheless, it will be a great opportunity for Varma to make his case strong for the T20 World Cup 2024.
