Prasidh Krishna ruled out of West Indies Tests? Pacer hit on helmet during Australia A clash

Team India fast bowler Prasidh Krishna suffered an injury on Day 2 of the second unofficial Test between India A and Australia A in Lucknow on Wednesday, September 24. Krishna had to retire hurt after being struck on the helmet by Australia fast bowler Henry Thornton, according to the cricket journalists from the ground.
Prasidh Krishna struggled to make a significant impact with the ball at Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow. He conceded 76 runs in 17 overs, including three maidens. Krishna picked up the wicket of opener Campbell Kellaway with the new ball. Australia A posted 420 runs in 97.2 overs in the first innings.
Prasidh Krishna Retires Hurt Against Australia A in Lucknow
According to Sportstar, the incident took place on Day 2 of the second unofficial Test between India A and Australia A. Prasidh Krishna was batting at No. 9 when India A was in trouble at 127/7 in their first innings.
Krishna managed 16 runs off 25 balls, including a four and a six, while attempting to build a partnership with Sai Sudharsan before being struck on the helmet by a short delivery from Henry Thornton at the stroke of tea.
Following the blow, Prasidh Krishna underwent a mandatory concussion test conducted by the team physio and was initially cleared to continue batting. He resumed for three overs but felt unwell and retired hurt, with Mohammed Siraj replacing him on the field.
Yash Thakur, who hadn’t featured in the previous game, was called in as a like-for-like replacement for Prasidh for the remainder of the fixture. He will be eligible to bowl in the second innings.
India A Collapse to 194 in Reply to Australia A’s 420
India A managed to score just 194 runs in 52.5 overs in the first innings. Opener KL Rahul scored just 11 runs off 24 balls, and Narayan Jagadeesan could not reach his fifty, getting out for 38 from 45 deliveries.
The innings were at 59/1 at one stage, but lost half the side for only 75 runs in the 22nd over. Devdutt Padikkal, captain Dhruv Jurel, and Nitish Kumar Reddy were all dismissed after scoring just one run each.
Sai Sudharsan tried to revive the innings but ran out of partners. Ayush Badoni was stumped for 21, Manav Suthar out for a two-ball duck, and Mohammed Siraj was dismissed for 1. Sudharsan scored 75 from 140 balls. Henry Thornton was the pick of the bowlers for Australia with four wickets for 36 runs.
Will Prasidh Krishna Play Against West Indies?
Prasidh Krishna’s recent injury could impact India’s fast-bowling options ahead of the upcoming two-match home Test series against the West Indies, with the squad announcement expected on September 24. The pacer took 14 wickets in three matches in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy.
Krishna hopes to recover fully and return to action for the West Indies series. Jasprit Bumrah, who is currently participating in the Asia Cup, could be rested, which may open a spot for another fast bowler alongside Akash Deep and Mohammed Siraj.
Prasidh has taken 22 wickets in six Tests for India at an average of 34.36, including two four-wicket hauls. However, his economy rate of 4.72 is on the higher side. He has taken over 100 First-Class wickets in 28 matches at an average of 24.58.
