Prithvi Shaw announces brilliant return to cricket field, slams 159 against Chhattisgarh in Ranji Trophy

Indian batsman Prithvi Shaw announced his return to the cricket field with a bang and has slammed a hundred in only his second match after returning from injury.

Shaw smashed a brilliant century in the ongoing Ranji Trophy match between Mumbai and Chhattisgarh and has also passed the 150-run mark. Shaw earlier played a quickfire innings of 35 runs from 42 balls and hit 5 fours during his stay at the crease in his comeback game.

Prithvi Shaw Hits Brilliant Ton

Prithvi Shaw is slammed 159 runs from 185 balls on Day 1. Shaw hit 18 fours and 3 sixes. He has also added 244 runs for the first along with Bhupen Lalwani and is inching towards a big score.

Prithvi Shaw had a brilliant run for his county side Northamptonshire in 2023, however, he sustained a knee injury in the middle of the tournament. Shaw returned home and worked with the physios at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.

Prithvi Shaw also smashed a century in his debut Test match against West Indies which was back in 2018. The young right-handed opener had a brilliant start to his cricketing career and won the U19 World Cup for the country. Though, things didn’t go right for Shaw as he moved ahead in his career. Shaw was not able to continue his dream form and was also ruled out from many necessary bilateral series due to his injuries.

Prithvi Shaw performed brilliantly for the Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League and always provided them with a blazing start. However, the last season of the Indian Premier League forced the DC management to bench him as he failed continuously despite being given several opportunities.

Prithvi Shaw also got engaged in a controversy when actress Sapna Gill had alleged him of molestation. However, later in the investigation, it was found that all the allegations put up by Gill were false.

Now, when Prithvi Shaw has returned to form it is a brilliant sign for the Indian cricket team and the Delhi Capitals. Shaw is an aggressive opener who likes to take on the bowler from the first ball of the innings. Shaw hits big shots from the first over of the innings and puts the opposition team under pressure. Shaw will now want to perform well in the Indian Premier League 2024 and also find a way back in the Indian cricket team.

Prithvi Shaw has played five Test matches for India and has slammed 339 runs at an average of 42.37. Shaw has smashed one hundred and two half-centuries and his highest score has been 134.

Getting back to Prithvi Shaw’s Mumbai, the Ajinkya Rahane-led side currently tops the Elite Group B with four wins from 5 games and have ended up losing one match. Mumbai have been in brilliant form in the present edition of the Ranji Trophy and the Indian domestic giants would like to add another Ranji Trophy title to their name.

If Prithvi Shaw is able to perform well in the Indian Premier League 2024, he shall also be in contention to get selected for the T20 World Cup 2024 squad.
