Delhi Capitals co-owner Parth Jindal has shared his views on Prithvi Shaw going unsold in the recently concluded IPL 2025 mega auction. While things have not gone well for the under-pressure batsman in recent times, not many were expecting Prithvi Shaw to go unsold.

The right-handed batsman had registered himself in the auction at a base price of INR 75 lakh. He has been playing in the competition since 2018. After firing India to victory in the Under-19 World Cup, Prithvi Shaw earned his maiden IPL contract with Delhi Capitals buying him for INR 1.2 crore.

Prithvi Shaw is off the radar

Later in 2022, Delhi Capitals also retained the batsman for INR 7.5 crore. However, Prithvi Shaw struggled to justify the franchise's decision in recent seasons. In the previous season, he could score only 198 runs in 8 games and also lost his position in the playing eleven.

Reacting to Prithvi Shaw going unsold in the auction, Jindal has not minced his words and has said that although the batsman is a 'great kid', he needed a jolt.

Parth Jindal reacts to Shaw's snub

"Prithvi is a great kid. He is misunderstood in many ways. And I think all of us growing up need a jolt and need to be shaken up from our slumber. There are times when I even needed that jolt," Jindal told Sports Tak.

"All your life you grow up hearing that you are the special one, you're the most talented, you're the only other batter in the world other than Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli to have an MRF bat. That tells you a lot about what everyone thought about him," he added.

Speaking further, Jindal recalled Ravi Shastri's comments when he compared Shaw with legendary batsmen such as Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara before saying that the youngster needed a wake-up call.

"People calling you Lara, somebody calling you Sachin, someone else calling you the next big thing. You grow up in that environment, and everyone from Mumbai cricket talking big about you. I think this is that one jolt Prithvi needed. Till now, he was on a fat IPL contract, he was playing for Mumbai across all formats, and was someone starting for DC at least.

"I think he needs to work hard. He needs to get back to loving the game of cricket. He needs to get back to the nets, get his fitness. He needs to get back and understand where he went wrong and get disciplined," said Jindal.

"Talent is there for everyone to see. I love the boy and I hope he gets back to the basics and hopes he comes back and be the Prithvi Shaw we all know he can be," he added.

Young Indian batter losing ground off the ground

Shaw has suffered a spate of setbacks in recent times and going unsold in the auction will further make things worse for him. He was recently dropped from the Mumbai team due to fitness issues. Earlier this week, he was out for a duck during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy game between Mumbai and Maharashtra.

With his career pretty much off track, Shaw will be looking to turn things around quickly. He has also lost his place in the Indian team and will now be looking to do well in domestic cricket to revive his career.
