Indian skipper Virat Kohli has congratulated team India and Ajinkya Rahane for their top-class performance against Australia on Day 2 of the Boxing Day Test. The statement came after the Indian Cricket Team ended Day 2 on a lead of 82 runs. Virat Kohli was a part of the Indian team in the first Adelaide Test.

However, the Indian skipper travelled back to Australia this week. The BCCI granted him paternal leave as Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma are expecting the birth of their first child in January. The couple announced the good news back in September while they were in UAE for IPL 2020.

Team India In Commanding Position After Rahane’s Heroics

Team India are in the driving seat after their batsmen have displayed rock-solid performance. Shubman Gill was astute with the bat as he opened the innings. Cheteshwar Pujara once again failed to find his rhythm as he was dismissed for just 17 runs off 70 balls. Ajinkya Rahane kept ticking the scoreboard from one end.

Hanuma Vihari and Rishabh Pant stitched quickfire knocks to help India reach Australia’s total. Rahane and Jadeja then played gritty knocks to force Australia on the backfoot. Team India now leads by 82 runs. The Indian batsmen will love to take a hefty lead and then dismiss Australia on a low score.
