Quetta Gladiators have heightened anticipation for the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) by announcing Shaun Tait as their new bowling coach. The Gladiators have appointed former Australian pacer Shaun Tait to be a part of the team’s coaching staff for PSL 2024.

Days after appointing former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson as the head coach, the franchise has now brought on board Shaun Tait. The Australian players, both World Cup winners, will assume their respective roles in the ninth season of the tournament.

Some Great Talent There To Work With – Shaun Tait

In a video shared by Quetta Gladiators on X (formerly Twitter), Shaun Tait expressed excitement about working with a talented group of pacers in the squad, including Mohammad Hasnain, Mohammad Wasim Jr., and Mohammad Amir.

“I’d like to thank Nadeem Omar (Quetta Gladiators owner) who trusted me with the bowling group, including Mohammad Hasnain, Mohammad Wasim Jnr, and Mohammad Amir. Some great talent there to work with alongside the great Shane Watson,” Tait said in an official statement.

Mohammad Hasnain Has Got The Ability Bowl Proper Rapid – Shaun Tait

Shaun Tait had previously worked with most of the bowlers during his time with Pakistan. In a previous interview, Tait criticized the workload on express pace bowlers, stating it’s not feasible for them to consistently play all three formats.

“No way – no way – express pace bowlers can currently play all three formats consistently,” Tait told ESPNcricinfo.

“Hasnain has got the ability to bowl proper rapid, but there’s no doubt [there’s an air of vulnerability to him]. My input with Hasnain is purely about just using his athleticism. Getting that grunt as a fast bowler and being angry. Just running in fast and feeling good.”

Earlier, the former Australian pacer served as the fast bowling coach for the Pakistan men’s team. The right-arm fast bowler joined the Pakistan team in February 2022 on a one-year contract. While he expressed interest in an extension, the contract was not renewed.

Sarfaraz Ahmed To Lead Quetta Gladiators In PSL 2024

The Quetta Gladiators have made significant changes to their coaching staff after failing to qualify for the playoffs in the last four seasons. The team has retained Sarfaraz Ahmed as captain, making him the only captain to lead the same team in all nine editions.

Gladiators were the most consistent franchise of the PSL during its first four editions when they reached the final three times and also won the title in 2019. The Sarfaraz Ahmed-led team will be hoping to reach the playoffs in the upcoming edition of the tournament.
