Former Pakistan bowling coach Shaun Tait has opened up about his stint with the national team and expressed his displeasure with Pakistan’s flat decks. During his tenure, the bowlers were not given enough pitches to benefit them when Pakistan played England, Australia, and New Zealand at home.

Pakistan lost a three-match Test series against Australia 1-0 and suffered a whitewash in the three-match Test series against England, which was their first whitewash at home. The Babar Azam-led team failed to win a match in the two-match Test series against New Zealand, as both games ended in draws.

The First Test Was A Perfect Storm For England – Shaun Tait

Shaun Tait was appointed as Pakistan’s fast bowling coach in February 2022 for one year, and his contract was not renewed. Speaking to ESPNcricinfo, Tait said that the series loss against England was an eye-opener for a lot of people in Pakistan.

“It was certainly eye-opening for a lot of people. We knew the way England were going to approach it. We’ve seen the way they’ve been playing in recent times. They obviously stepped it up a little bit,” Shastri said.

“It started from the first Test. They got the rub of the green. England winning the toss on a wicket where they could certainly play their shots helped. We ended up with a couple of injuries. The first Test was a perfect storm for England. The momentum just continued from there,” he further added.

It Would Be Nice If Things Were Different – Shaun Tait

Tait said he never discussed with the curators about pitch preparation but would have preferred pitches that suited fast bowlers in home conditions.

“But I’d like to see pitches different because I’m a bowling coach, I’m a fast bowler. I don’t think it takes a rocket scientist to realize that it would be nice if things were different,” Tait said.
