PSL Is The 2nd Best T20 Tournament Just Behind IPL: Michael Vaughan

Former England captain Michael Vaughan is known to rile up cricket fans on social media with his instigating posts, especially on Twitter and his recent tweet is sure to get some good traction as he called the Pakistan Super League (PSL) the second-best T20 league in the world.

There is often a comparison made between the PSL and the Indian Premier League (IPL) ever since the concept of the T20 leagues started with Zee TV’s Indian Cricket League (ICL). While it was outlawed and deemed unofficial by the BCCI, Lalit Modi came up with the concept of the Indian Premier League which exploded like wildfire and gave birth to various other T20 tournaments across the globe.

The Pakistan Super League was one such creation by the Pakistan Cricket Board to cash in on the popularity of IPL and the T20 format. However, the first three seasons of the tournament were held in UAE due to foreign cricketers’ unwillingness to travel to Pakistan. But ever since the PSL has been held in Pakistan, its popularity has exploded.

The PSL sees a host of foreign cricketers participating, while the local Pakistani talent gives it an amazing flavor and one or two young stars, especially fast bowlers emerge on the world stage due to their great talent. PSL is often credited with giving Pakistan team some amazing pacers with the likes of Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Hasnain, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf and others making a name for themselves.

Michael Vaughan is often trying to rile up cricket fans, especially from India with his tweets and his latest tweet will give the Indian and Pakistani fans something to tweet about on the social media site. While praising the Pakistan Super League for its amazing quality of cricket, Vaughan was smart enough to keep the PSL just below the Indian Premier League, which is the global benchmark for the cricket T20 leagues.
