Multan Sultans owner Ali Tareen has opened up about claims that the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL 10) will be “bigger and better” than before. Tareen stated that the tournament has the same teams, and while the stadiums have improved, that alone doesn't justify calling it the best edition ever.

The 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League will be played from April 11 to May 18. A total of 34 matches will be played across 37 days. The six participating teams will compete in four host cities — Karachi, Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi. The tournament will conclude with the final set at the Gaddafi Stadium on May 18.

How Is PSL 10 Bigger and Better? - Ali Tareen

Ali Tareen questioned the claims of Pakistan Super League 10 being “bigger and better” in a recent podcast. He said that without any significant changes, such statements feel hollow. He emphasized that thrilling matches have always been a part of the tournament, including last year's final.

"How is PSL 10 bigger and better? Someone explain to me — when we say these hollow words that this is going to be the best PSL, what does that even mean? How will it be the best PSL? It's the same teams," Ali Tareen said.

"We’ve had nail-biting finishes every year — seven close matches annually, even last year’s final went to the last ball. So what’s different? Same four stadiums, same stadium experience. Yes, the stadiums are better this year, but is that alone enough to make it the best and biggest PSL ever? No. I’m fed up with these empty claims," he added.

I Am Tired of These Promises from the PCB - Ali Tareen

Ali Tareen questioned what steps were being taken to improve the league and asked for clarity on how the season would truly stand out. Tareen raised concerns that a successful brand like the Pakistan Super League is not being pushed forward with real innovation.

"I am tired of these promises from the PCB and management about making this the biggest season. What exactly are we doing differently to make it the best? Someone explain."

They claim it will be bigger while repeating the same things as last year. How? I genuinely want to know. Is there a plan? Are we doing anything new to elevate it? If so, great. But it’s disappointing to see our successful brand being neglected."

Pakistan Super League 2025 Set to Kick Off on April 11

The Pakistan Super League 2025 will kick off on April 11 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, with a match between title holders Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars.

Peshawar Zalmi will take on Quetta Gladiators in the afternoon on April 12, and Karachi Kings will square off against Multan Sultans in the evening.

This season, Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium will host the most matches—13 in total—including both Eliminators and the final. Rawalpindi will stage 11 matches, while Karachi and Multan will each host five games.

Pakistan Super League 2025 will run alongside the IPL 2025, which started on March 22 and will conclude on May 25.
