The TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 has had a breathtaking start to the 19th edition. Already three games have been played in the tournament, with the fourth game coming up between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Gujarat Titans (GT) on March 31, Tuesday.

Punjab Kings finished as the runners-up of IPL after losing to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), and GT were eliminated from the competition after they lost to Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Eliminator. The last time both sides met, it was a high-scoring thriller. In this article, we will be predicting the playing XIs for both sides.

Openers: Prabhsimran Singh, Priyansh Arya

The two flamboyant openers, Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya, had a sensational IPL 2025 and gave PBKS blistering starts. These two will once again be crucial for the franchise to give them a fiery start in the power play. Priyansh Arya was the main aggressor between the two and scored a hundred as well last season.

Middle Order Batters and All-Rounders: Shreyas Iyer (c), Nehal Wadhera, Marcus Stoinis, Azmatullah Omarzai, Shashank Singh

Shreyas Iyer scored the most amount, of runs in the middle overs for Punjab Kings. As the captain took charge and led the side from the front, with his bat scoring over 600 runs in the tournament. He would like to replicate the same in this season as well.

Nehal Wadhera and Marcus Stoinis will have to step up big and score runs in the middle overs, and Shashank Singh will be given the responsibility to finish off the games.

Bowlers: Marco Jansen, Arshdeep Singh, Vyshak Vijaykumar, Yuzvendra Chahal

The two left-arm pacers, Marco Jansen and Arshdeep Singh, will be required to pick quick wickets with the new ball and also bowl well in the death overs as well for Punjab Kings. Yuzi Chahal will be crucial in the middle overs as the pitch of Mullanpur will have some spin to offer.

Openers: Shubman Gill (c), Sai Sudharsan

The opening combination of Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan scored the most runs for the 1st wicket partnership in the last season of IPL. The pair scored 839 in 12 innings and was excellent throughout the season.

They would want to give GT a similar start to their campaign. The two young guys also scored the highest ever 1st wicket partnership in IPL history, scoring 205 against the Delhi Capitals.

Middle Order Batters and All-Rounders: Jos Buttler, Glenn Phillips, Shahrukh Khan, Rahul Tewatia, Washington Sundar

The responsibility of Jos Buttler and Glenn Phillips will be huge as the two batters need to score runs in the middle overs and also anchor the innings if the two openers fall early. As GT does not have the best of middle-order batters on their side, except for these two, and they have let go of Sherfane Rutherford as well, who scored amazingly for the side.

Bowlers: Rashid Khan, Kagiso Rabada, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna

Rashid Khan has been struggling with form in recent times; however, the pitch of Mullanpur could help him to come back in form, and he would like to pick wickets in the middle overs. The pace trio of Kagiso Rabada, Mohammed Siraj, and Prasidh Krishna will look to pick wickets. The latter was the Purple Cap holder last season; his form has been poor since then.
