Former Indian wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik has reserved high praise for Rahul Dravid for his work during his tenure as head coach of the India men's cricket team. Dinesh Karthik credited Rahul Dravid for the Men in Blue's victory in the T20 World Cup 2024 in the West Indies and the United States of America.

Rahul Dravid was appointed as the head coach of the Indian team after the T20 World Cup 2021. Dravid ended his tenure after the T20 World Cup in 2024. The Indian team, led by Rohit Sharma, secured a narrow seven-run victory over South Africa in the final match at the Kensington Oval in Barbados on June 29.

The World Cup victory was special for the 51-year-old, as he never won an ICC trophy as a player in his illustrious career. The former Indian captain was seen in tears after lifting the trophy. The Rohit Sharma-led team became the first-ever men's team in T20 World Cup history to win the title while remaining unbeaten.

The Beauty Is the Work That He Had Put In - Dinesh Karthik

Speaking on Cricbuzz’s "Hey CB with DK," Dinesh Karthik said that Rahul Dravid handled the Indian team exceptionally during his tenure. He highlighted that Dravid's efforts over the past few years as a coach were instrumental in leading India to success in the T20 World Cup.

"Rahul Dravid beautifully handled some tough waters post the IPL. But the beauty is the work that he had put in the last two, three years as a coach is what really helped him in that T20 World Cup," Karthik said.

Rahul Dravid had planned to end his tenure as head coach after India’s loss in the 2023 ODI World Cup final. However, Rohit Sharma convinced him to stay until the 2024 T20 World Cup. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) granted an extension to the coaching staff, which proved successful for India.

The former Karnataka cricketer mentored the Rajasthan Royals (RR) after retiring from the Indian Premier League (IPL). Dravid also coached India U19 to a World Cup win in 2018. He spent three years as head of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) before becoming head coach of the Indian men's team in 2021.

Know How Balanced Rahul Dravid Has Been - Ravichandran Ashwin

Speaking ahead of the 2024 T20 World Cup, Ravichandran Ashwin said that Rahul Dravid deserved credit for his hard work and balanced approach over the past 2-3 years. He stated that Dravid's efforts often go unnoticed, despite his significant contributions to the team’s success.

"I know what he has been doing with this team for the past 2-3 years. I know how balanced he has been. I know how hard he has worked to change this approach. I know what he has given each of his players. Even when he is just sitting at home, he has been planning how to do this and that," Ashwin had said on his YouTube channel in June.
