Former Indian skipper Rahul Dravid is likely to earn an astounding amount of money if he takes up the job of Team India’s new head coach. Reports speculated that Dravid’s appointment was pretty much finalized during the final of IPL 2021 yesterday.

The former right-handed batsman had already had a stint as a coach for India when he took the role during India’s tour of Sri Lanka earlier this year. However, it was a second-string side that travelled to Lanka, and many believed it was a test run before he takes up the role full-time.

As per a report in the Times of India, Dravid’s contract is expected to end in 2023. He will take over the role once the upcoming T20 World Cup concludes on November 14 in the UAE. He is expected to leave the coaching role at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) before taking up Team India’s job.

Rahul Dravid expected to draw a salary of around INR 10 crore

The report further mentioned that Dravid could sign the contract, which would see him drawing a salary of around INR 10 crores. This would make him one of the highest-paid Indian coaches. Further, the support staff is also expected to undergo a rejig once Ravi Shastri‘s tenure ends.

Paras Mhambrey could join as the bowling coach while current batting coach, Vikram Rathour, is expected to continue his role. Mhambrey was the India U-19 team coach that lost in the final of the 2020 World Cup.

Dravid could join as early as the New Zealand series, which is scheduled to visit India for three T20Is and two Tests. Before his contract runs out, Dravid is going to be part of three ICC events – T20 World Cup 2022, WTC 2021-23, and the 2023 ODI World Cup.
