Rahul Dravid to spearhead panel discussion on inclusion of Cricket in Los Angeles 2028 Olympics

Former India head coach Rahul Dravid is all set to attend the panel discussions on the inclusion of cricket in the Olympics. The event will be there to celebrate cricket’s inclusion in the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics titled: ‘Cricket at the Olympics – Dawn of a New Era.

The panel discussion is scheduled to take place on 28th July in the evening at India House, situated at Parc de Lavillette. The India House notably is India's first-ever country house at the Olympics. It is brought by Dream Sports and has been conceptualized by Reliance Foundation in association with the Indian Olympic Association

The panel discussions on the inclusion of cricket in the Olympics will be attended by the CEO of the International Cricket Council, Geoff Allardice, T20 World Cup 2024 winning coach, and former India head coach Rahul Dravid. Accompanying them will be Harsh Jain, CEO & Co-Founder of Dream Sports.

The panel featuring Rahul Dravid, Geoff Allardice, and Harsh Jain will be discussing the perspectives on the inclusion of cricket in the LA 2028 Olympics. The major topic of discussion would be the growth and opportunity for cricket in existing and newer markets and building on the worldwide passion of cricket fans.

ICC CEO Geoff Allardice talked about the panel, stating that their focus is on the development of cricket. He highlighted that adding cricket to the Olympics is an important step for the game. Speaking about the same, he commentated (as quoted by TOI):

“We continue to focus on the development of cricket across the world, bringing in more fans to the game, opportunities for players to compete at the highest level and now taking cricket to the Olympic stakeholders. The inclusion of cricket in the Olympics marks an important step, and we look forward to Paris 2024 as an added impetus to the journey.”

Harsh Jain, CEO & Co-Founder of Dream Sports, said that making sports better is their prime objective and to see cricket in the Olympics is a positive step. While talking about the development, he explained:

Cricket recently was included in the Olympics. The game will be marking its long-awaited Los Angeles edition in 2028. It was in 1900 when cricket was part of the Olympics. The inclusion of cricket in the Olympics will be a massive step going forward. ICC has been taking every step possible to make the game popular in all parts of the world. They recently staged the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in the USA and it saw a positive response from the fans.
