Rahul Dravid Wants Rohit Sharma To Be The Captain Of Team India After Virat's Tenure Ends

Newly Appointed Indian head coach Rahul Dravid has recently revealed that he wants Rohit Sharma to take over the captaincy after Virat Kohli’s tenure comes to an end. Ravi Shastri’s tenure as the Indian head coach ends after the ongoing T20 World cup, and the whole coaching staff are likely to be changed as well.

Rahul Dravid was approached to apply for the head coach role, and he did have some hesitations at the start. However, a few days back, he applied for the position and was the frontrunner to take up the role without a doubt. Dravid’s role at NCA as the head coach will come to an end, and VVS Laxman is a possibility to take up the head coach role at NCA.

Rahul Dravid Reveals His Option Virat’s Successor

Rahul Dravid was questioned about his choice for next captain when Virat Kohli’s tenure comes to an end, and he was quick to admit his answer to the Indian vice-captain Rohit Sharma to take up the position. Rohit Sharma has shown that he is one of the best captains in India at the moment as he has bagged five IPL titles already. Virat Kohli has announced that he will step down as India’s T20I captain after the T20 World cup 2021 ends.

Rohit has also won a lot of multi-nation tournaments for the Indian side already, with the Nidahas Trophy and Asia cup being notable ones. Rahul Dravid also picked KL Rahul to be next in the line for leadership, and the latter has been one of the most consistent batsmen for India in the last two years. He has contributed in every aspect he can, and he will be looking forward to the responsibility as well.

Rahul Dravid’s Assignment To Start With New Zealand Series

India will be playing a three-match T20 international series, and a two-match test series at home against New Zealand straight away after the T20 World cup 2021 comes to an end. This will be the first assignment for Rahul Dravid after being appointed as the head coach of the Indian team, and a lot of expectations will be around from the fans.

India and New Zealand are set to play the first T20 international on the 17th of November at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Indore.
