Rajasthan Royals Likely To Takeover Majority Ownership Of Yorkshire Cricket Club For 25 Million GBP - Report

Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise, Rajasthan Royals started their bid to takeover English County Side, Yorkshire Cricket Club which might make them the first foreign franchise outside England to own a County Club.

The Rajasthan-based franchise reportedly offered an amount of 25 million Great Britain Pound to take full control of the Headingly-based cricket club and might end a streak of 160 years of English members club.

According to a report by MailSport, the Yorkshire Cricket Club in Headingly are willing to hand over the club to Mike Ashley, who earlier owned the Premier League club, Newcastle United that he sold to the Saudi Arabian group, Public Investment Fund.

However, the Yorkshire Cricket Club is looking forward to raising 15 million pounds in funds to clear the dues of the former chairman, Colin Graves.

The bid proposed by Rajasthan Royals owners stated that the franchise would take full control of the club and would provide a loan to clear all the dues of the former chairman.

The apex body of England Cricket always looked forward to earning most funds from the Hundred where Yorkshire owned most stakes of the Northern SuperChargers.

On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals too have stakes in various T20 franchise leagues for example the owns Barbados Royals in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), and Paarl Royals in the SA20.

If the takeover happens successfully, the Rajasthan Royals will own the iconic English stadium Headingley and can strikethrough cut price method in owning a Hundred franchise which will benefit the Royals ownership group.

Rajasthan Royals failed to qualify in the knockout stage of IPL 2023

In the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), the Rajasthan-based team finished at the fifth place on the league table with 14 points after winning 7 matches.
