Rajasthan Royals Squad, Team List, Players List After IPL Auction 2025

Rajasthan Royals head into the 2025 mega-auction with Rs 41 crore remaining and clear targets for their squad rebuild.

The 2008 champions have retained six players, with five Indians - the most any franchise retained besides Gujarat Titans. Star batsmen Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson top the retention list, while West Indian power-hitting Shimron Hetmyer remains the only overseas player for the side.

With 19 slots to fill, including seven overseas positions, RR's shopping list goes heavily on foreign talent. Key bowling attacks are left with significant gaps with the departures of Trent Boult and Yuzvendra Chahal.

Former Gujarat Titans superstar David Miller emerges as a priority target having played for RR in the 2020-21 season. The South African, along with Hetmyer, can strengthen the middle order, which failed in the big matches last season.

Caribbean big-hitter Rovman Powell, who found himself struggling for RR in 2024 with a strike rate of just 126.32, may get another chance given his recent T20I form (average 30, strike rate 150) and leadership role with sister franchise Barbados Royals.

The bowling department will require an immediate overhaul. Among the eligible candidates is Sri Lankan mystery spinner Maheesh Theekshana, with 25 wickets from 27 IPL matches at 7.66.

Head coach Rahul Dravid may change the interest level of swing bowler Deepak Chahar, who has been excellent in powerplay as well as can bat well at the tail end. Given the second-lowest purse among all teams, their auction strategy will need much more thought. RR will likely focus on getting one good fast bowler.
