RCB skipper Rajat Patidar, who is leading Central Zone in the Duleep Trophy, has scored a brilliant 80-ball century against North East Zone, boosting his spot within the Indian team for the upcoming series against the West Indies.

After a great record in the IPL 2025, where the Madhya Pradesh batter led the Royal Challengers Bangalore to a historic maiden IPL title as the captain of the side, Patidar has now come forward to dominate Indian domestic cricket.

Patidar is currently part of the Central Zone playing XI for the Duleep Trophy, as he features in the opening round of the match in the first quarter-final. The two semi-finals will be played between the 4th and 10th of September, while the finals have been scheduled from the 11th of September

Rajat Patidar makes his presence felt with comeback Duleep Trophy hundred

The Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Rajat Patidar has smashed a stunning 80-ball hundred in the opening innings on the opening day of the first match against the Northeast Zone on the 28th of August.

Patidar has been out of action since he led Bengaluru to a maiden Indian Premier League title in June. He scored 312 runs in 14 matches at an average of 24 and a strike rate of 143.77, which caught the attention of all.

With this performance, he can claim a spot in the Indian side, which he once missed due to a string of low performances with the bat, but it seems that the added responsibility of captaincy has evolved him into a promising player.

Rajat Patidar has smashed 21 fours and 3 sixes in his innings as he reached the three-figure score, his 14th hundred in first-class cricket. He finished on 125 runs off just 96 balls. In the same innings, he was well supported by Vidarbha batter Danish Malewar, the batter who scored a stupendous double hundred.

Rajat Patidar is leading the Central Zone in the Duleep Trophy

Indian wicket-keeper batsman Dhruv Jurel was supposed to lead the Central Zone after having made his presence felt with the Indian squad in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, where he featured in the Lord's and Manchester Tests as India's replacement wicket-keeper before turning into the XI for the final Test as Rishabh Pant's replacement.

However, Dhruv Jurel has supposedly been ruled out due to an injury he suffered during the practice sessions and has reportedly been snubbed after he complained of a groin niggle ahead of the quarter-final clash against the North East Zone.

Indian national players are part of the Central Zone team

Alongside players like Rajat Patidar and Dhruv Jurel, star Indian pacers Khaleel Ahmed, Deepak Chahar, and the spinner Kuldeep Yadav have all been included in the Central Zone squad for the Duleep Trophy.

Kuldeep Yadav has been named in the Indian Asia Cup squad as well, since he is the lead spinner in the side alongside Varun Chakravarthy. While the likes of Harshit Rana and Arshdeep Singh, who will also star in the Asia Cup, are featuring for the North Zone.
