Jasprit Bumrah played IPL 2026 with an injury, reveals Mahela Jayawardene

Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians head coach Mahela Jayawardene has recently revealed that Jasprit Bumrah was carrying a small injury from the T20 World Cup into IPL 2026, which affected his rhythm and sharpness despite the Mumbai Indians giving him enough rest.

As a result, Bumrah managed only four wickets in 13 matches this season. The fast bowler was also rested for the upcoming one-off Test and three-match ODI series against Afghanistan at home.

Mahela Jayawardene said at the press conference, "It is due to a combination of a few things. Coming back from the T20 World Cup, he had a slight niggle, which he played with through the World Cup, so we gave him adequate rest to come back.”
