PCB Chairman Ramiz Raja has put his decision to step down from his position after Imran Khan’s ouster on hold at the moment. He is now eagerly waiting to see how the newly appointed PM Shehbaz Sharif helps him to take the country’s cricket forward before deciding on his future. Sharif will also have a say on the cricketing matters pointing towards an overall development of the sport in the country.

Ramiz Raja was thinking of resigning from his position after Imran Khan’s ouster from the position of the country’s Prime Minister. The former Pakistan skipper worked hard behind the scenes to uplift the face of Pakistan cricket. Australia’s recent trip to Pakistan was the highest point of his career as an administrator besides the successful completion of a few PSL seasons as well.

There were also reports that Ramiz Raja has said that he would hold onto to his position till Imran Khan was the PM of Pakistan. However with Imrah’s ouster now, Raja’s future is also under the scanner. It was Imran who appointed him as the PCB chief in September last year.

“Ramiz had only agreed to become the chairman of the Board on the insistence of Imran for whom all the players who played under his captaincy including Ramiz have a lot of regard and respect,” reports well aware of the developments said on Sunday.

“Ramiz was well set in a career as commentator, TV personality, and expert and was busy with assignments. But on Imran’s insistence he agreed to put aside all his media contacts and become chairman of the board,” the reports said.

Under Ramiz Raja, Pakistan played some really good cricket. They beat India for the first time in ICC tournaments. They also maintained an unbeaten record in the group stage before eventually losing to Australia in the semi-final of the tournament.
