Ex-Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ramiz Raja has shared a fresh update on the former Prime Minister Imran Khan, days after several former England and international captains appealed for better medical treatment for him.
Former England captains Michael Atherton and Nasser Hussain were among 21 ex-skippers who wrote to Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, asking authorities to ensure proper medical care for the former Pakistan captain and legendary all-rounder. Imran Khan, who guided Pakistan to their first-ever World Cup title in 1992, has been behind bars for around three years. He served as Pakistan’s Prime Minister from 2018 to 2022 before being removed from the position and later receiving multiple prison sentences in 2023.
Recently, Ramiz Raja shared that Imran is currently living in isolation in prison. Despite having a huge fan following, the former Pakistan captain has been spending tough time behind bars. Raja also revealed that Imran recently faced an eye-related problem.
'It’s been a tough one for him' - Ramiz Raja
Ramiz Raja said on the ‘Stick To Cricket’ podcast, “He is in isolation. He’s got a lot of fans, but it’s just that the poor guy has been behind bars for three years now. It’s been a tough one for him.”
However, the former Pakistan captain said that the former prime minister's strong mindset and calm temperament are helping him deal with the difficult situation.
Ramiz Raja added, “Just a week back, there was some problem with his eye that seems to have been sorted, but otherwise, he’s holding up. I mean, he’s got a solid temperament, as we all know.”

Michael Atherton accuses Pakistan Government of trying to erase Imran Khan
Meanwhile, Michael Atherton accused the Pakistan government of trying to erase Imran Khan from public memory and almost remove his presence from the country’s history. Amid this, Brydon Carse handcuffed: Fresh details emerge on nightclub incident.
Atherton said on Sky Sports Cricket: “Nass (Nasser Hussain) and I were among 21 former captains who sent a second letter yesterday, a humanitarian appeal for Imran Khan to get the requisite level of treatment. But I suppose the basic theme was the way the state has tried to airbrush Imran almost out of existence, which is increasingly difficult to do in a social media age.”
Kapil Dev among 21 captains seeking medical help for Imran Khan
Well, pressure is growing on the Pakistani government over the health of the legendary Imran Khan. On Sunday, 21 former cricket captains, including Indian legends Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar, and Dilip Vengsarkar, wrote to Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
They urged him to take steps to improve Khan’s health and ensure proper medical care. This was not the first appeal. Earlier this year, another group of 14 former captains had also written to Sharif after concerns about the former prime minister's condition emerged.
The issue became more serious when reports claimed that Khan was suffering from an eye problem. His family claimed that the condition had left him almost completely blind in one eye. There were also allegations that Khan was not receiving proper medical treatment in prison.
