Ramiz Raja, the head of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has made it clear that if their hosting rights for the 2023 Asia Cup are taken away, the Pakistan cricket team may opt out of the ODI World Cup.

Given that Pakistan has also raised the idea of pulling out of the Asia Cup for the same reason, this might have major repercussions for the ICC. With a startling response to the ICC question, Ramiz nevertheless, turned the tables on the BCCI and India.

Ramiz emphasized that the BCCI was the one who started this uproar in an interview with BBC’s Test Match Special. The BCCI secretary and president of the Asian Cricket Council, Jay Shah, announced that such would not happen and pushed on a change of venue in October amid rumours that the board would permit the Indian squad to travel to Pakistan for the first time in 14 years.

PCB retaliated by expressing its intention to skip the World Cup, which will be held in India the following year. But taking such action might have unintended consequences for the ICC.

“What if Pakistan’s government refuses to allow Pakistanis to travel to India due to security concerns?”It’s an emotional subject here. In some ways, the BCCI sparked the argument. We had to reply. Test cricket requires India vs. Pakistan” Ramiz Raja responded to the issue.

“You saw what happened in the World Cup”: Ramiz Raja

Ramiz Raja urged India to put aside political tensions and visit Pakistan for the Asia Cup the next year. He supported his position by using the current FIFA World Cup as an illustration.

“You saw what occurred at the World Cup: 90,000 people showed up at the MCG. I’m simply a little let down by the ICC. When the FIFA president was asked why the US was playing Iran when Iran has so many concerns with women’s rights, he took up football and claimed it might cure a lot of problems. We can protect the tribe mentality through sports. Let the bat and ball speak for themselves, “Ramiz stated.

The 13th 50-over World Cup will take place in 2023, with India serving as the host nation. The quadrennial tournament is scheduled to take place in 2023, with India serving as the host nation for a record-breaking fourth time.
