Rashid Khan hits historic low, becomes worst-ever IPL bowler

Gujarat Titans' leg-spinner Rashid Khan equalled the unwanted record of Mohammed Siraj as he conceded 31 sixes in the ongoing IPL season.

The embarrassing record of conceding the most sixes in an IPL season was with Siraj before today’s clash between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans, but now Rashid has equalled the record of Siraj by conceding three sixes against Chennai.

Rashid Khan concedes 31 sixes in IPL 2025

Rashid Khan’s IPL 2025 season didn’t go well as he ended the group stage with just 9 wickets in 14 matches at an average of 53.66. This was the worst average of Rashid in his IPL career.

Rashid concedes 31 sixes till now and has one match confirmed left or possibly two to three matches remaining in his IPL 2025 because Gujarat have already qualified for the playoffs.

The record was equalled when Dewald Brevis hit a six on the first ball of the 16th over. Rashid is seen struggling with the length of his deliveries in the ongoing IPL season.

Rashid might end up conceding the most sixes in an IPL season after equaling Siraj’s record in the league stage itself.

“Rashid went through a surgery because his back was hurting last year," he said. “Sometimes when you are in so much pain during matches, you tend to do certain things with your action so that it pains less.

"There have been a few things about which we spoke this year after 2–3 games, where he needs to make a few adjustments with his front hand, which has been rather closed, while it should be facing the batter. He is doing that now and bowling better lengths in the last two-three games," Gujarat assistant coach Aashish Kapoor stated.

Rashid Khan came with the surgery and lost his magic in the ongoing IPL season. Rashid will look to perform well in the playoffs to end this season on a high note.

Rashid has never scalped fewer than 16 wickets in an IPL season before IPL 2024, but since the last season, Rashid lost his magic and ended the last season with only 10 wickets, and now in this ongoing season, he has picked up only nine wickets.
