Rashid Khan leaves Dwayne Bravo's legacy in dust, becomes highest T20 wicket-taker

Afghanistan National Cricket Team player Rashid Khan has achieved a huge feat in the history of the T20 Cricket. The premier leg-spinner surpassed Dwayne Bravo to become the leading wicket-taker in the shortest format of the game.

Rashid Khan went past Dwayne Bravo after he picked his 632nd wicket while playing for Mumbai Indians Cape Town in the game against Paarl Royals in the SA20 2025. The Qualifier 1 of the tournament between the teams took place on Tuesday (4th February) at St George's Park in Gqeberha.

Rashid achieved the feat after he removed Paarl Royals opener Lhuan-dre Pretorius. The leg-spinner played a vital role in his team with the ball and helped them reach their maiden final after having two back-to-back poor seasons in the last two editions of SA20.

Rashid picked two wickets in the game and returned with the figures of 2/33. He led from the front as Mumbai Indians Cape Town defeated Paarl Royals by 39 runs to make it into the final of the SA20 2025, which will be played on Saturday (8th February).

Rashid Khan, who made his T20 debut in 2015, is the leading spinner in the world cricket. The Afghanistan National Cricket Team spinner has been playing in leagues around the world and is part of the IPL, BBL, CPL, SA20, The Hundred, ILT20, and MLC.

The leg-spinner has a magnificent record in T20s, as he has picked 633 wickets in 461 T20 matches at an outstanding bowling average of 18.07. Rashid Khan also has taken four five-wicket hauls in his career, with the best bowling figures standing at 6/17. On the other hand, Bravo ended with 631 wickets in 582 matches.

While talking about surpassing Dwayne Bravo, Rashid said that it is a great achievement for him as 10 years before he never thought about this. While calling the pacer a great bowler, he said it's an honour for him to go past him.

"It's a great achievement," Rashid told the host broadcaster after his team secured victory. "I never thought about it, if you asked 10 years before this if I would get there. It's a proud feeling to be from Afghanistan and to be at that level where you top the table. DJ [Bravo] is one of the best T20 bowlers. It's a great honour and I'm looking forward to continuing."
