Trent Rockets franchise has faced a massive blow ahead of the business end of the ongoing The Hundred 2024. Star all-rounder Rashid Khan, as per the reports in ESPNCricinfo, has been ruled out of the remainder of the entire tournament.

Rashid has been ruled out of The Hundred 2024 with a hamstring injury. The leg-spinner suffered an injury during the game between Trent Rockets and Southern Brave on 10th August. The Afghanistan captain suffered the blow while fielding in the final over and then looked in discomfort.

Rashid reportedly tore his hamstring and was deemed unfit to play in the remainder of the league. According to the report, all-rounder Chris Green has been recalled into the squad and will serve as the replacement for the Afghanistan National Cricket Team skipper.

Rashid Khan's absence will be a massive blow for Trent Rockets as the leg-spinner has played a decent role for the team in the tournament so far. The Afghanistan National Cricket Team captain took nine wickets in five matches in the ongoing season and scored 44 runs at a strike rate of 157.15.

Rashid has been dealing with quite a few injuries of late. The all-rounder underwent back surgery following Afghanistan's 2023 ODI World Cup campaign. The leg-spinner also pulled out of the Hundred 2023 due to an undisclosed injury.

Rashid then made a comeback in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 and after that has been playing cricket continuously. He captained the Afghanistan National Cricket Team in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 and after that has been playing in the leagues around the world.

Rashid Khan got hit for 5 sixes by Kieron Pollard

Rashid Khan recently hogged the headlines after he was hit by Kieron Pollard for five consecutive sixes. During the game against Southern Brave, Trent Rockets were at the top of the game as they needed to defend 49 runs with 20 balls.

Rashid Khan was brought into the attack as a matchup for Kieron Pollard. However, the move didn't work as the leg-spinner was hit for five massive sixes on the five balls. The spinner had conceded only 10 runs off his first 15 deliveries with the wicket of Andre Fletcher.

The nature of Rashid Khan's injury isn't known exactly. But the all-rounder would be keen to get fit in time for the upcoming one-off Test against New Zealand, scheduled to be held in Noida in September. The leg-spinner will be eager to get fit and help his team win the game and make a mark in Test cricket as well, having reached the semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2024.

This, however, isn't the only injury that the Trent Rockets have faced. Pakistan National Cricket Team all-rounder Imad Wasim also has been dealing with injury. Although he is yet to be ruled out of the series, it is expected that he is in contention to make it to the playing XI for the upcoming crucial encounter.
